ANTEDILUVIAN “Through The Cervix Of Hawwah”

Release Date: December, 2011

Label: Profound Lore/Invictus

Canada is probably heavy metal’s promised land; we knew that already, but the way bands from that country keep surprising us with their uniqueness is something beyond phenomenal. If MITOCHONDRION opened last year by taking death metal to dimensions beyond common understanding, then ANTEDILUVIAN closed it by plunging into the depths of the most frightening darkness.

With the archetypal INCANTATION sound as their basis, the Canadians explore the caverns of the earliest MORBID ANGEL heritage, while using their technicality (pay some attention to the drums) to create atonal paths that aim to frustrate and distract the listener. Helped by the massive wall of sound their production has created, they embed small portions of doom/death riffs as heard in the “Intuituus Mortuus” track where the guitars crawl before gloriously erupting into an epic ending. Then you have “From Seraphic Embrace” starting with a short but obvious AUTOPSY worship and from that points things get dangerous with an occult/divine sexuality (we’re talking about the cervix of Eve –or Hawwah- after all) poisoning the atmosphere until the record ends in the total triumph of “Erect Reflection”.

Drowned into its blasphemous preaching, “Through The Cervix Of Hawwah” comes from the depths to establish a new milestone in dark, abyssic death metal. As far I’m concerned, it stands proud next to MITOCHONDRION’s monumental “Parasignosis”, both of them paving the way for the truly extreme metal provoking the other bands to step up to the challenge. In Canada we trust, once again…
